The 9th IntimaLente Film Festival in Italy is to screen Iranian documentary ‘Kiarostami and His Missing Cane’.

The 9th edition of the Ethnographic Film Festival IntimaLente in Italy has scheduled to screen Iranian documentary ‘Kiarostami and His Missing Cane’.

Directed by Mahmoud-Reza Sani and produced by Behrouz Neshan, the piece depicts the late Abbas Kiarostami’s worldview and his perspective on life and cinema.

In the 90-minute documentary, Kiarostami is portrayed as a child who is exploring new games. As he says, cinema for him is like a game that allows him to go back to his childhood.

‘Kiarostami and His Missing Cane’ has won some honors at different global events, including being chosen as a finalist at the August 2019 edition of the Eurasia International Film Festival in Russia.

The Iranian title also received the award for best documentary feature at the 4th Salto Independent Film Festival in Uruguay.

Kiarostami has won many awards, including the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 for ‘Taste of Cherry’.

He is mostly known as a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.

The veteran Iranian filmmaker who passed away on July 4, 2016, following a heart attack at the age of 76, was honored at more than 300 film events around the world.

The Ethnographic IntimaLente aims to promote documentary cinema with particular attention to anthropological topics and methodologies.

The 9th IntimaLente is slated for December 20, 2019.
